Venice Art Crawl

The Venice Art Crawl is a free monthly exploration of the Venice Beach area and the world famous Venice artist community and spirit. The Venice boardwalk area has a long history of being a haven of creativity and home for artists. The area has been the site of beat coffee shops, famous galleries and cutting edge exhibit and performance spaces. Recently, numerous local artists came to voice their frustration with not enough exhibition spaces in Venice, especially on the Venice Boardwalk, a traditional area where artists have shown their art. The Art Crawl is an event to help local artists show their art. Areas such as down town, Silverlake and Culver City have begun similar monthly events to showcase their community and the artists that reside there. These events, especially in the current tougher economic times, have helped support the livelihoods of many artists as well as the local businesses. It seemed natural that Venice, one of the city’s most creative and historic areas, should do so as well

26th Abbot Kinney Festival

Celebrating 26 years of giving in Venice, the 2010 Abbot Kinney Festival will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Founded in 1984, the Abbot Kinney Festival is the second largest of its kind in Southern California. This popular community event attracts nearly 150,000 attendees from across the southland, including over 10,000 parents and children who participate in day-long cultural activities inside of the Festival’s Youth & Family Courtyard. The Festival includes approximately 350 artisan vendors, 4 live Music Stages, 3 Food Courts (including our famous Food Truck Alley), and 2 Beer Gardens. Admission to the Festival is FREE and open to the public. Net proceeds from sponsorships, vendor booth fees, commemorative merchandise, event-run concessions, and festival guide advertising are reinvested into the community through grants awarded to local nonprofits, particularly those that serve at-risk youth.
